FWF / Proudly Ethical Production

Today we take a moment to recognize our partner in ethical business, the Fair Wear Foundation.

Operating ethically responsible production has always been important for the Odd Molly/Post Fire Dew team.

We wanted, for some time, to partner with an organization to further our commitment to acting socially and environmentally responsibly in our factories.

After exploring all available partners, Fair Wear stood out and in June 2009 (after an IN-DEPTH audit!) we became a fully approved member.

Now, we stand alongside such responsible member brands as Gsus, Acne, J. Lindberg and Filippa K... making a statement together in the textile industry for something bigger, something that makes us very proud. That is, to be bringing health, safety and security to the good people who work so hard to give our beautiful clothing life.

The FWF actively operates to protect eight key Codes among its members, based on the internationally recognized standards set out in the UN's Declaration on Human Rights.

The Foundation is continually inspecting and auditing its partner members to ensure they are strictly complying in all ways with FWF's Code of Labour Practices:

1) Employment is freely chosen
2) No discrimination in employment practices
3) No exploitation of child labour
4) Freedom of association and the right to collective bargaining
5) Minimum payment of a "living wage"
6) Working hours will comply with acceptable standards, no excessive work shifts
7) Mandatory safe and healthy workplace conditions
8) Right to legally-binding work relationships in accordance to all labour and social security laws

Here, we recognize that clothing is not only about price or marketing or design, but also about the quality of production behind each and every garment.

And I hope this is as important to you as it is to us.

Post Fire Dew / Welcome to the Family

Some of you may have already met our sister brand (brother brand?), post fire dew.

I'm happy to report that sales of our very first Autumn-Winter2010 menswear collection have far surpassed even our highest expectations with some stores placing re-orders after only a few days of having the new styles on their shelves.
.
PFD was the brain child of Odd Molly Creative Director, Per, and was brought to design-life by Ylva Liljefors while also incorporating collaborations with unique artists along the way.
.
This season, for example, Ylva and Per bring in the many talents of Swedish artist Mattias Olsson - a graphic artist who works in all mediums from paint to charcoal/graphite to tattoo design. Mattias' art is featured in custom linings in the Post Fire Dew line.
.
First, a still from the recent SS2011 Runway Show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in Stockholm.

And a few selections from the AW2010 range...

Making Friends with Fate / Let Yes Win

Some fresh news - Odd Molly has been nominated in two distinct categories at the Habit Fashion Awards in Sweden, fast approaching on Nov 10th. We are in the running for:

i) "Retail Concept, Interior" (covering our three flagship stores, in Stockholm, Copenhagen, Los Angeles and also our outlet store)

ii)"Supplier, Young Fashion"

Habit is Scandinavia's leading trade magazine, reporting on top fashion/garment industry news and trends (www.habit.se), so we could not be more honoured at these high recognitions.

In other news, Thursday evening is the grande finale for the Founder Alliance Entrepreneur Gala in Sweden (http://founderawards.net.dynamicweb.se).

600 members-strong, this organization has nominated our very own co-founders, Per and Karin, for the 2010 Entrepreneur of the Year Award. Thursday evening, they announce the winner for the category.

Loving that Sunday Morning Feeling

Today, I spend the day at home. Drinking masses of impossibly black tea, reading the Times and quietly browsing all the new music discovered during my recent travels. I have gathered up my new top groups... so here is one for you.

Meet Analogik. My picks for the day? The addictive "Tempobeat" and super-quirky "Farligt Monster".
